Jonathan Barnes, assistant professor of chemistry, received a three-year, $450,000 grant from the Children's Discovery Institute of Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospital toward research on innovative drug delivery strategies to treat pediatric kidney disease.
Jeffrey G. Catalano, professor of Earth and planetary sciences, has been appointed the next executive editor of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, the official journal of the Geochemical Society and the Meteoritical Society. Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta is a notable scientific journal that publishes research papers on a wide range of subjects in terrestrial geochemistry, meteoritics, and planetary geochemistry.
Rebecca Lester, associate professor in the Department of Anthropology, has been appointed the next editor-in-chief of the interdisciplinary journal Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry. The journal is an international forum for the publication of work in the fields of medical and psychiatric anthropology, cross-cultural psychiatry, and associated cross-societal and clinical epidemiological studies.
Ram Dixit, associate professor in the Department of Biology, was awarded $31,000 from the Children's Discovery Institute of Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospital in support of undergraduate summer research in children's health and disease.
Christopher L. Zerr, a graduate student and University Fellow working with Kathleen McDermott, professor in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, was awarded the William C. Howell Scholarship by the American Psychological Foundation/Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology.
