Biology student Makenna Fluegel conducts research in the lab of Robert Gereau.

As a first-generation college student, I wanted a school that would challenge me academically, expand my worldview, and provide financial support. The Taylor STARS program and my advisor, Mary Lambo, were critical to my success. Researching endometriosis in Dr. Robert Gereau’s lab ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in biomedical science focused on women’s health. The mentorship I received from faculty and peers gave me the confidence to fully embrace the opportunities within Arts & Sciences and beyond.
