In the Kautt Lab, we investigate the mechanisms and conditions driving (or constraining) the evolution of biological diversity with a special focus on animal behavior. To this end, we combine a genomics-centered approach with molecular experiments, behavioral assays, and fieldwork in an integrative way. While our research is question-oriented and not bound to a particular organism or trait, we primarily work with two main systems: North American deer mice and Missouri crayfish.
