Elizabeth Eikmann

Elizabeth Eikmann serves as the Assistant Director of Curricular Innovation working closely with faculty to provide curricular development and oversight of First-Year and Ampersand Programs. Alongside Michelle DeLair, Director of Curricular Innovation, Elizabeth also supports implementation of the Literacies for Life and Career initiative.
Elizabeth earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a certificate in Gender Studies from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a master’s and PhD in American Studies from Saint Louis University. Elizabeth first joined WashU as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the American Culture Studies Program. Most recently, she served as the Program Coordinator of Community Engagement in the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs overseeing initiatives that cultivated postdoc wellness and community engagement, as well as recognition and award mechanisms.
Elizabeth is an experienced educator and public historian. She has taught courses on visual culture, St. Louis, and other topics in American culture in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies and in the American Culture Studies Program, including the Ampersand: American Stories sequence. Formerly, Elizabeth co-owned and operated a local interpretive tourism company, Renegade STL. She is a member of the Missouri Speakers Bureau and serves as Governing Board Secretary of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Alumni Association.
