Jue Lu teaches courses in modern Chinese.

Jue Lu received her Ph.D. in Chinese and Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. Her teaching and research interests include modern Chinese literature, with a particular focus on autobiographical writings and practices from the late Qing and early Republican periods, as well as language pedagogy, heritage cultural learning and content-based curriculum development.

Lu began her journey as a language instructor while serving as a teaching assistant for language courses during her graduate studies at WashU, where she discovered her passion for teaching. After graduation, she served as a Chinese language lecturer at Princeton University for over five years. She has taught Chinese language courses at all levels, including both heritage and non-heritage tracks, as well as advanced-level content-based courses in modern and classical Chinese literature, classical Chinese philosophy, and modern Chinese intellectual history. Additionally, she has taught at the Princeton in Beijing program and the Middlebury Summer Chinese School.

Lu's academic background profoundly influences her approaches to language teaching. She is particularly interested in integrating her research on self-writing and storytelling into curriculum development. Lu hopes to facilitate students in finding their own voices and expressing their individual experiences and thoughts while studying Chinese language.
