Maya Ganapathy

Assistant Dean of Advising, College of Arts & Sciences

Maya is originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but grew up in Romania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Chile. She studied English literature and Romance languages at Mount Holyoke College and completed a PhD in Comparative Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in West African literature in English. She worked with the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program and in what is now University Advancement prior to joining the College Office in 2016. As an Assistant Dean of Advising, Maya supports the Policy & Administration team as the College’s liaison to Directors of Undergraduate Studies. As a four-year advisor, she loves seeing ArtSci students step outside their comfort zones to challenge themselves and discover new passions. Off campus, you’ll find her corralling her dogs, trying to keep up with her two boys, and making a mess in her kitchen.
