Mark Dowell teaches beginning and intermediate Spanish courses, as well as grammar and composition.
Mark Dowell earned his MA in Romance Languages (Spanish) from UNC – Chapel Hill. His areas of specialization are Peninsular and Latin American Literature, and the relationship between food and cultural representation.
He has been teaching in the Romance Languages and Literatures Department since 2015. He is currently a Lecturer in Spanish and Portuguese. His classes include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Spanish grammar, as well as Beginning Portuguese. He will begin teaching Intermediate Portuguese in the fall of 2019.
In 2018, he developed and taught “Hispanic Culture through Food,” an online University College course that examines the intersections among food and cultural practices in Latin America, the United States, and Brazil.
