2020 Distinguished Alumni

On March 24, 2022, Arts & Sciences honored six alumni for their achievements, service, and commitment to the liberal arts.

Meet the 2020 Recipients (Recognized in 2022)

Kristina Olson, AB '03

Kristina Olson, AB ’03, is the Early Career Achievement Award winner. She is a professor in the psychology department at Princeton University, and a MacArthur Foundation ‘genius grant’ winner. Her most recent research focuses on the social and cognitive development of transgender and gender nonconforming youth. The Early Career Achievement Award goes to a graduate of the College of Arts & Sciences at Washington University who is 45 years old or younger who has made momentous strides in their professional field.

 

T.R. Bynum, BS ’01, JD ’08

T.R. Bynum, BS ’01, JD ’08, is a manager in Wells Fargo’s Litigation Regulatory Enforcement and Investigation section. He and his team advise businesses employing more than 14,000 financial advisors and licensed bankers in branches across the U.S. 

 

John Green, AB '90

John Green, AB ’90, is a former Executive Producer of Special Programming and Development at ABC News. Green is a three-time Emmy and Peabody Award winner. He has worked on many of the network’s biggest newscast programs including Good Morning America and 20/20. 

 

Joan Kelly, AB '72

Joan Kelly, AB ’72, served as Group Executive, Global Technology and Operations for MasterCard Worldwide until her retirement, and has been nationally recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in STEM by the STEM connector organization. 

 

Larry Robinson, MA ’81, PhD ’84

Larry Robinson, MA ’81, PhD ’84, is the president of Florida A&M University and is still actively engaged in research as the director and principal investigator of the Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems.

 

Gayle Jackson, MA ’69, PhD ’79

Gayle Jackson, MA ’69, PhD ’79, is the Dean’s Medal winner. She is the president and CEO of Energy Global Inc., a consulting firm specializing i n corporate development, diversification, and government-relations strategies for energy companies. The Dean's medal is awarded to an individual who has, through dedication, support, leadership, advice, and inspiration, kept Arts & Sciences at the forefront of one of the world's premier educational institutions.
