The Revista de Estudios Hispanicos has been selected as the recipient of this year's Respo Award from the hispanistas.com blog.
The Respo Award is presented to the journal that receives the most consistently positive posts for a period of two consecutive years in the “Journals” category at hispanistas.com. The blog, launched in 2009, is an open-access forum for Hispanists to share their experiences related to journals, presses or conferences. The inaugural award was granted to the editors of Decimonónica in 2014.
"This is truly a great recognition for the hardworking team of leaders at the Revista who exemplify professionalism," said Michael Sherberg, professor of Italian and chair of Romance Languages and Literatures. "My congratulations to the editorial board including Stephanie Kirk, Javier García-Liendo, Ignacio Infante, Ignacio Sánchez Prado, and Anna Eggemeyer, as well as to all who have worked with or helped build the journal over the years."
Additional information from the hispanistas site regarding this award: “Respo” refers to the word “responsible” or ”responsable,” the virtue that all journals should exhibit. In many instances, someone’s continuing employment depends upon the editorial staff’s responsible processing of the manuscript: prompt acknowledgment of receipt of article, quick decision time (no more than 2-3 months from date article was received), constructive feedback for the ms in question, and reasonable amount of time between acceptance and publication. The Respo Award recognizes a journal that demonstrates such responsibility and enjoys high esteem in the profession as reflected in the blog posts.
