Foreign Language Placement Exams
You DO NOT need to take a Foreign Language Placement Exam if:
- you do not wish to study a foreign language.
- you will be starting a new foreign language.
- you have taken the College Board Advanced Placement Test or Achievement Test (SAT II) in Russian only, and you plan to continue studying Russian, your score will provide us with the necessary information for placement.
You DO need to take a Foreign Language Placement Exam if:
- you wish to continue your study of a language
Students must register online to take a Foreign Language Placement Exam, please register using the links below:
- For information on Spanish, French or Italian online placement exams
- For the Latin or Greek placement exams
- For Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, or Urdu exams
- For Chinese, Korean, and Japanese placement exams
- For German placement
- For Russian placement, contact Professor Mikhail Palatnik via e-mail to sign up for the Russian Placement Exam. This year's exam will be held Thursday, August 21 at 10 a.m. in McMillan Hall, Room 259.
- If you have studied Classical Greek in high school, please contact the Classics Department via e-mail for placement information.
