Dr. Akın's teaching and research fields include Macroeconomics, Industrial Organization, and Economic Theory.

Ş. Nuray Akın is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Washington University in St. Louis, where she teaches macroeconomics at the master's and undergraduate levels. Her research uses dynamic general equilibrium and search models to study risk-sharing and price formation, with applications to unemployment insurance, health insurance, immigration, and fiscal policy. Her work appeared in the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, the European Economic Review,  the Review of Economic Dynamics, and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, among others. She earned her bachelor's degree from Boğaziçi University and her doctorate from the University of Minnesota. Before joining Washington University, she held positions at Özyeğin University, where she chaired the Department of Economics and served as Vice Director of the Graduate School of Business, as well as at the University of Iowa, the University of Southern California, and the University of Miami. She most recently served as Vice Rector for Teaching, Research, and Innovation at İstanbul Bilgi University. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye (TSKB), where she serves on the Risk, Audit, and Corporate Governance Committees.
