As Academic Advisor, Sarah supports students through regular contact and individualized guidance. She is deeply committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where advisees feel seen, heard, and encouraged to explore their academic and personal goals. As someone with ADHD, Sarah is also dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals and advocating for a campus community where everyone can thrive with equitable access to resources. Sarah’s advising philosophy centers on curiosity, trust, and student self-authorship. She encourages her advisees to reflect on their values, identities, and goals, helping them navigate both the curriculum and the broader college experience with confidence and purpose. As a member of the College of Arts & Sciences Student Progress and Academic Success team, she is especially committed to helping struggling students navigate academic difficulty. She is also a pre-health advisor and enjoys strategizing the path to medical school with her advisees. Sarah has a bachelor's degree in art history with a minor in German from Truman State University and a master's degree in writing studies from Saint Joseph’s University. A St. Louis native, she has been with WashU since 2009. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys exploring local parks with her husband and daughters, hand embroidery, rescuing and rehabbing furniture, going on walks with her golden retriever, thrifting, traveling, and reading.
