Silvian teaches violin lessons for the music department.
Silvian Iticovici jointed the first violin section of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra in 1976 and holds the position of Second Associate Concertmaster. Prior to that, he was professor of music at the Conservatory of Yasi, in his native Romania. During that period he concertized in Central Europe and performed with several chamber ensembles. He earned the Andre Gertler Prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, second prize at the International Violin Competition in Switzerland and was the winner of the George Enescu Scholarship Competition in Bucharest in 1971. Mr. Iticovici studied with Yuhudi Menuhin in London and in Amsterdam before he was awarded a scholarship in 1975 to study with Ivan Galamian in New York. With the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra he has performed concertos by Spohr, Haydn and Shostakovich. At the present he holds a part-time teaching position in violin at Washington University.
