Deanna Barch, chair of the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences in Arts & Sciences and the Gregory B. Couch Professor of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine, is the 2016 recipient of the mentor award from the Academic Women’s Network(AWN) at Washington University.
AWN, a Medical Campus group that brings attention to gender-equality issues, presents the award each year to an individual who has served as an outstanding mentor to women at the School of Medicine. Barch received several letters of nomination for the award, which showcased her generosity and dedication as a mentor and role model in the medical school community.
The 2016 AWN awards were presented May 5 with Katrina Armstrong, chair of the department of medicine and physician-in-chief at Massachusetts General Hospital, as the event’s featured speaker.
